Orator: David Tiller AO FRACP
Topic: “How Lucky We Are”

Professor Tiller graduated from Sydney University in 1964 and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1973. He was President of the College from 1994 to 1996 and was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1998.
Professor Tiller was Head of Department of Renal Medicine at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney from 1973 to 1997 and was appointed Emeritus Consultant in Renal Medicine in 2002. He has served on a number of committees most notably as the Chair of the Medical Board of NSW Area of Need Review Committee from 2000 to 2003 and on the Private Health Industry Medical Devices Expert Committee for the Australian Federal Government from 2000 to 2005. He has published many papers and abstracts and 5 books.
Since ceasing full time clinical activities Professor Tiller has been involved in the development of the University of Sydney’s School of Rural Health with major activities in Dubbo and Orange and also with developments in Lismore and Broken Hill. In addition he has been involved in the development of Multiple Mini Interviews for admission to the Faculty of Medicine and has served on the Admission Committee.
Professor Tiller also assisted in the establishment of special student pathways for admission to the Medical Faculty with a focus on creating a pathway for indigenous students with the Faculty of Science. He has also worked on co-operative programs with the Faculty of Dentistry including establishment of a rural dental program.
In 2005 Professor Tiller was invited to assist in the development of the Campbelltown Hospital particularly its development as a teaching hospital in conjunction with the University of Western Sydney. The first year program commenced at the Hospital in 2008.
Professor Tiller lives in Lindfield with his wife Lorraine. They have one son, Andrew, and two daughters, Katrina and Louise.

The College Library invites Fellows, Trainees and their guests to a history tour of the College building and a display of rare books in the library.
At 2pm Prof John Rasko FRCPA, FRACP, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital will give a history of medicine lecture titled "Did the Ancient Greeks foreshadow regenerative medicine?"
Refreshment and discussion will follow.

Join your colleagues for a great evening at Doltone House, a prestigious Sydney waterfront venue. Arrive at 7pm for drinks and canapés served on the balcony, overlooking Sydney Harbour. Accommodation Booking Deadline: 9 April 2009
A minimum one night’s deposit must be paid or credit card details given at time of booking to guarantee reservation. Bookings made after 9 April 2009 must be secured with credit card details.
