The College will be introducing a number of Workshops on Sunday 11 May in the following topics; Sexual Health Medicine, Health Refugee Issues, Complementary medicine, Clinical Pathways in addiction medicine and Prescribing for chronic nonmalignant pain. Separate registration fees apply for these workshops.

This workshop deals with significant health and psychosocial issues presented to physicians for newly arriving refugees. It includes applying clinical guidelines, addressing adolescent health issues and models of care for refugee populations.

Clinical Pathways in Addiction Medicine Cancelled

This workshop will guide the audience through the process of building a complete
clinical pathway while presenting background information. Focusing on highly structured treatments, indications for treatments and also presenting research findings of previous success in the use of clinical pathways.

Sexual History Taking and STI/HIV  Management for General Physicians and GPs Cancelled

This workshop is designed to increase proficiency in the practice of obtaining and
recording patients’ sexual history. It will provide a general update on current clinical
treatment of STI and HIV, highlighting issues which may affect routine primary health care.

Complementary and Alternative Medicines Cancelled

This workshop will examine the scientific and ethical issues raised by the use of
complementary and alternative medicines (CAMs) in the Australian community and
will introduce representatives of the various stakeholder groups; a philosopher, a consumer, a practitioner, a scientist and an ethicist.

Prescribing for Non-malignant Pain

Guidelines give guidance for VTE prophylaxis for medical and surgical patients. This
