Monday 18 – Tuesday 19 May 2009
The Adult Medicine Division in partnership with the Internal Medicine Society of Australia and New Zealand (IMSANZ) will present a stimulating two-day program for adult physicians and Trainees.
The Division invites Fellows and Trainees to a program which offers a superb opportunity to receive updates in specialties outside your own area of practice. Highlights include:
- Use of the new biologicals in immunology and rheumatology
- Clinical genetics for the non-geneticist
- Medical disorders in pregnancy
- Updates in diabetes, intensive care and respiratory medicine
- Online education for skills development in sexual health
- Epidemiology of the end of life experience
- Managing the aggressive adolescent in the emergency department
As well, the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine will present a workshop on Care of the compromised colleague: hypotheticals in returning peers to practice. There will be demonstrations of new electronic resources for delivery of education, and members of the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee will offer advice for the busy supervisor.
Trainee Participation
Trainees will play an important part in the program through presentation and discussion of unusual clinical cases (The Best of Grand Rounds) and through presentation of research work by state and regional winners.
Priscilla Kincaid-Smith Oration
The 2009 Priscilla Kincaid-Smith Oration will be a joint session with the Division’s partner, IMSANZ. This year the Oration will be delivered by Associate Professor John Henley, who has chosen the topic ‘The Specialty of General Medicine – Past, Present and Future’.
